Visit of Swedish Scouts 2nd August 2002

The corps billeted a group of Swedish Scouts who had come to the UK for an International Jamboree. Since Paul and Ailsa are ex Scouters a camp fire was arranged. This proved a challenge in itself. How do you have a camp fire when you do not have any waste ground or large garden to have a fire ? A makeshift fire grate was created using a large donated piece of corrugated iron which had to be cut in two. Wood was collected from local scrubland that was being cleared of a fallen tree. Hey presto one camp fire. All went well, even children in the houses behind the hall joined in, albeit from the safety of their own gardens and time of the day.
