Prayer Corner

Did you know that a Year of Prayer for London started with the formation of a prayer chain at 00.01hours on 1 January 2007? The theme for 2007 is “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,” and the climax will be hundreds of prayer vigils praying in the New Year across London on 31 December 2007. 24/7 prayer networks are being established across London with the aim that one will be established in all 33 boroughs. Pentecost Sunday (27 May 2007) is the Global Day of Prayer (an event started in Africa in 2001). In the afternoon, West Ham Football Club’s Boyelyn Stadium will host a massive Christian worship, prayer and celebration event (booking office 0870 1122700).

Do add your voices to those already praying for our capital city and everything that occurs within it. Pray for Merton and those who live, work and worship in this borough. Major David and Ailsa have recently attended events run by the Borough of Merton considering local issues and how to make it a safer place for children. Do pray for them as they represent the Salvation Army and seek to influence local issues with Christian values. Finally do seek God’s guidance as to whether you should link up with the London Year of Prayer. If you want to know more go have a look at www.londonprayer.net/2007.

There are lots of different issues covered in our Newsletter – do pray for them and the people involved. In addition please pray for Major David and Ailsa as the CYM review draws towards it’s conclusion and the decisions they will be making for this year, and those that follow. Finally do remember to pray for those who are unable to worship with us on a regular basis. Their presence is missed, but they are not forgotten – Kitty, Letitia, Olive, Linda, Edie, Ella, Sonia, Gillian, Ernie, Sue and Phillip.
