Film of the month Bamako (PG)

Last month we reviewed Amazing Grace, that opens in cinema’s on 23 March 2007. This month we consider the film “Bamako”, which is the name of Mali’s capital city. Bamako is described as a complex expression of Africa’s heart and soul, in the face of unspeakable global injustice. The film portrays the public trial of the World Bank for it’s trade practices. The trial is ingeniously set in the courtyard of an African home, where real life continues around the legal case. The film offers a serious look at issues from an African perspective, while being witty and clever. In cinemas from 23 February 2007.
