Faith In Action

On Thursday 1st March the first management committee meeting of 2007 took place. At that meeting five new trustees were welcomed onto the committee - Abdul Sattar, May Nichol, Michael Jones, Psacale Lo, Anne Walker.

Since the last management committee in November 2006 a number of changes have been made to the way in which FIA is managed. Because the charity does not have a Chief Executive an Executive sub committee has been set up consisting of four members from the management committee. The role of this sub committee is “to inform decision making by the management committee by providing information, advice and recommendations to the Management Committee and to undertaking those operational responsibilities assigned to the Chief Executive role”. This change will save time at the meetings of the management committee and will increase its ability to make decisions promptly.

On Tuesday 20th February, one of our clients, David Kew, died. Davy, was a flamboyant character with a caring nature who was much loved by everyone at the Drop-in. You may remember that at the end of January we held a thanksgiving service for the life of Paul Doohan, it was Davy who paid a tribute to Paul in that service. On the 14th March we will be holding a thanksgiving service for Davy’s life at 12 noon in our hall.

February has been a particularly challenging month for Haley and Jenny and unfortunately I have only been able to attend the drop-in once during February.

Please pray for
  • Our two staff members, Hayley and Jenny, as they often have to deal with stressful situations on a Wednesday.
  • The clients, staff and volunteers as we seek to support one another during this stressful time.
  • The management committee as they seek to manage the project and develop it to provide the best service possible to our clients.
